Format and Duration

Format: On-site, half-day workshop (4 hours). Should the number of qualified applicants exceed capacity, the session will be expanded from a half-day to a full-day format.

Date: June 9th, 2026

Style: Highly interactive, combining short presentations, hands-on sessions, think-aloud protocols, and group discussion.

Schedule (Half Day)

1–1:20 — Welcome & Introduction

  • Opening remarks from organisers
  • Overview of AI-generated trends
  • Goals and outputs of the workshop

1:20–1:50 — Lightning Talks Introduction (Optional Mini-Tutorial)

  • 4×5-minute talks given by the multi-disciplinary workshop hosts regarding their backgrounds and interests in the topic of the workshop

1:50–2:40 — Think-Aloud Exercise: Individual Reasoning

  • Participants examine curated sets of AI-generated and authentic images/videos
  • Individual judgment task with think-aloud protocols
  • Facilitators record reasoning patterns through local edge AI transcription of think-aloud outputs, workshop discussion, and interviews. This keeps material local and secure without relying on API calls. 

2:30–4:30 — Contributions and Discussion

  • Groups collaboratively articulate reasoning, points of disagreement, and decision strategies.
  • Exploration of accessibility-related issues in media judgment
  • Participants present their short workshop paper contributions and relate them to the work that was done in the earlier activity.

4:30–5:00 — Closing and Next Steps

  • What did we learn about human reasoning?
  • Collate tactics, processes, and strategies that were used as part of the sensemaking and sensegiving exercise
  • A summary of insights will be presented via a workshop website post conference. 
  • Invitation to contribute to follow-up publications
  • Invitation to run the study design at home institutions
